Two questions.....
There are usually two questions that must be answered when it comes to achieving something desirable. One, “what do you want?” and two, “how can you get it?” In every life, there is a treasure worth seeking and in every treasure, there is a method and manner to get it.
The Dream Job Blueprint answers
both of those questions.
The Blueprint is based on the theory of intrinsic motivation – what are things that pull us towards them. We discover what we want intellectually, what we physically want to do and what we desire spiritually and emotionally. When we correctly combine those things in a job or an activity, we find a very potent combination that is extremely hard to ignore.
Once we know what we want, we can devise a map, or blueprint, that can show us the steps necessary to getting what we desire.
The Blueprint
The Dream Job Blueprint is divided into 12 modules – each designed with a specific objective in mind. Once the first 10 modules have been completed, the final modules are done with respect to what the student needs. *
The 12 steps
- Module 1 – Introduction and Identifying Interests – We take a look at what stimulates a student intellectually.
- Module 2 – Identifying Abilities – We examine a person’s skills from their own perspective and also from others around them.
- Module 3 – The Matrix: Creating Career Paths – This is where we take a look at what careers would be a good fit for a student’s interests and abilities.
- Module 4 – Identifying Audiences – The third aspect of a dream job, we look at who the student wants to work with and/or work for in their professional pursuit.
- Module 5 – Why This Works – An explanation and breakdown of The Blueprint and why it works from a scientific perspective.
- Module 6 – Narrowing Down Your Choices – We use several techniques to try and narrow down the possibilities to a manageable number.
- Module 7 – Informational Interviews – Teaching the student how to do an informational interview with an expert in the field in which they want to work. This is also the section where we endeavor to have a conversation between the student and an industry veteran to gain valuable insight into that career.
- Module 8 – Networking – Teaching how to use informational interviews to grow a student’s contact list.
- Module 9 – Understanding the difference between a Career Hunger and a job Wisher
- Module 10 – Creating a Success Blueprint – actually mapping out everything a student needs from their education to internships/apprenticeships to professional development (first job to their career goal) so they can see the entire process.
- Module 11 – Redefinition – understanding that success in a given field is better achieved when a person redefines themselves as someone who is already successful in that field.
- Module 12– Next Steps
